Sharmila Lost The Battle But Won Against Jagan?

Published by

There is a historic saying that winning the war as an entity is much more important than winning a single arms battle. AP Congress President YS Sharmila appears to have followed this principle to the fullest as she lost the battle in the Kadapa Lok Sabha segment but won the war in which she played her role in dethroning Jagan.

When asked about losing Kadapa Lok Sabha segment, Sharmila took the question on a lighter note and said she didn’t have enough time to spin a winning strategy here. She didn’t seem too bothered about her defeat from Kadapa and seemed rather satisfied that her brother Jagan got dethroned.

Sharmila called YSR Congress a “Pilla Kaluva” and it is bound to come back to join the ocean(hinting at Congress) someday. Sharmila said Jagan was outrightly rejected by the people of Andhra Pradesh and she called this mandate an overwhelming “Anti-Jagan” wave that has gripped Andhra Pradesh.

It could even be argued that Sharmila dealt a fair bit of damage to the YSR Congress in the Kadapa belt. An indication of the same is the fact that YCP, which won 10/10 MLA seats in the erstwhile Kadapa segment in 2019 got restricted to 3/10. Losing the Kadapa bastion wasn’t expected in the wildest dreams of YCP. While the Kutami’s outright domination is the main factor behind the sweep, Sharmila might have also had a small role to play here.

Sharmila’s anti-Jagan statements gave a public perception that Jagan couldn’t even cater to his family members then what about the people of AP. The Vivekananda Reddy murder might have also had a role to play. All in all, Sharmila might have done whatever damage she could to Jagan and she seems satisfied with the same.
