Very often do we see childhood friends serving in the same rank in the police department. Here is a story of two IPS officers, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and Srinivas, hailing from the Guntur and currently serving in the rank of Director General of Police (DGP).
Dwaraka Tirumala Rao is the DGP of Andhra Pradesh, while his friend, Srinivas, has been serving as the DGP of Puducherry for the past year.
Both Dwaraka Tirumala and Srinivas studied together at Krishna Nagar Primary School in Guntur, continued through Patibandla Sitaramaiah High School, and further advanced as they pursued their postgraduate studies at Hyderabad Central University.
Tirumala Rao, after completing his education, cracked the Civil Services Examination and was selected for the Andhra Pradesh Cadre in 1989. Post the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he held the position of Commissioner of Police in Vijayawada before taking charge as the DGP of Andhra Pradesh.
On the other hand, Srinivas cleared the Civil Services Examination and was selected for the Jammu and Kashmir Cadre in 1990. Last year, he assumed the role of DGP in Pondicherry.
The bond between Tirumala Rao and Srinivas remains strong, and their journey inspires many. Patibandla Vishnu, the secretary of Patibandla Sitaramayya School, is now planning to hold a felicitation event for both officers and celebrate their journey by inviting their other friends.
