AP To Save Rs 300 Cr By Stopping Sakshi

Published by

One of the infamous moves of the bygone YSR Congress government is the issuance of the newspaper allowance to the volunteers in the state.

The 2.6 lakh volunteers in the state used to get Rs 200/month just to buy Sakshi paper every day. This was apart from the usual ads that were anyway given to Sakshi and this allowance used to go into Sakshi publications circulation system.

But with the YCP getting uprooted by the TDP-JSP-BJP government in AP, an affirmative decision has been taken against the regulation for volunteers to buy Sakshi paper. A new Government Order has been passed to immediately stop the “Sakshi” allowance for volunteers.

Earlier, Rs 5.3 crore was spent every month on buying Sakshi paper for the volunteers in the state which totals to around 60 crore per year.

If we calculate this for the net five years, the government of Andhra Pradesh will be saving a mighty Rs 300 crore by stopping the Sakshi allowance. This essentially means Rs 300 crore is stopped from going into Sakshi’s pockets over the next five years.
