Though it is very common to see the leading political parties in the Telugu states to have dedicated electoral campaign songs, the “Ravali Jagan Kavali Jagan” song from the 2019 YCP campaign was on a different league. It turned as viral as a superhit cinema song and played a crucial role in the party’s electoral roll.
The impact of this song was such that TDP senior JC Diwakar Reddy himself said he would campaign for TDP in Tadipatri and then come into his car and hum Ravali Jagan. It could be said that this song ruled the roost on social media and even offline mediums.
But cut to 2024, there was no such impactful song for Jagan. Already being in power, and the public’s clear decision on the mandate meant that Jagan had no vacuum to work with, and hence, none of his songs worked the trick. The Siddham song and Jagan Agenda were alright but they didn’t have the strong punch.
Back in 2019, there were a few fun memes on social media where they said a section of AP people might have voted for Jagan just due to Ravali Jagan song. This kind of magic didn’t work for Jagan this term. But this is all fun talk, as any song won’t decide the public’s mandate, but instead, it is the narrative set by the party and the public’s trust in it.
