In a display of political maturity and grace, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again demonstrated his commitment to upholding the dignity of parliamentary proceedings, even in the face of defeat.
During today’s election for the Lok Sabha Speaker, the Congress party had put forth its own candidate, challenging the BJP-backed nominee, Om Birla. However, when the results were announced and Birla emerged victorious, Rahul Gandhi’s response was amazing.
Rather than resorting to accusations or creating a ruckus, he accompanied the newly elected Speaker, Om Birla, to the podium, along with PM Narendra Modi, and congratulated him on his victory.
This gesture of goodwill was widely praised, as it upheld the democratic principles that are the foundation of the country.
Even other day, when Rahul Gandhi, who is in a constitutional-post, as the leader of the opposition, went to greet the pro-tem speaker, he shook hands with the attendee standing in the well, behind the speaker.
That reminded many of Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan who did a similar thing in the Andhra Pradesh assembly couple of days earlier.
While that’s how these gentlemen are doing in politics, in Andhra Pradesh we are seeing a political party that lost elections engage in blame games, targeting EVMs and creating unnecessary chaos.
