Telangana’s former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao wrote a petition to the High Court, asking for a stay on the proceedings against him by the Justice L. Narasimha Reddy Commission.
The Congress government appointed this commission to investigate the Power Purchase Agreements made during his time in office and the construction of the Yadadri and Bhadradri Thermal Power Plants.
He said the commission was formed unlawfully. He asked the court to cancel the commission’s order for him to attend questioning in person. He also claimed that Justice Narasimha Reddy remained in his position as chairman despite valid objections to the commission’s formation. The hearing for his petition is expected soon.
In his petition, KCR called Narasimha Reddy’s commission’s summons “arbitrary, illegal, ultra vires, and contrary to the provisions of the Commissioners of Inquiry Act, 1952.” He also stated that the State Electricity Regulatory Commission should handle issues related to electricity pricing, purchase, and Power Purchase Agreements.
