YSRCP leader and former MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was arrested by police at Narasaraopet and taken to the SP office, with plans to subsequently move him to the Macherla court.
This action followed the High Court’s denial of his anticipatory bail petitions in cases involving the vandalism of EVMs and assaults during the recent elections.
The High Court refused to grant him protection from arrest in four cases registered against him. These cases stemmed from incidents of alleged misconduct during the general elections, where he contested as the Vaikapa candidate for Macharla Assembly Constituency. The court’s decision to reject all four anticipatory bail pleas came on Wednesday, overturning earlier interim orders that had provided temporary relief.
On polling day, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was accused of damaging an EVM and assaulting TDP agent Namburi Seshagiri Rao at a polling booth in Palvaigate.
The day after polling, Pinnelli and his supporters allegedly incited disorder in Karampudi, resulting in an attack on CI Narayanaswamy, who sustained injuries. Police have filed cases related to all these incidents.
Following the rejection of his anticipatory bail pleas on June 20, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was promptly arrested by police. He now faces legal proceedings concerning the charges against him.
