While it’s widely believed that Jagan’s governance led the YCP to a humiliating situation with 11 MLA, former Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam has disclosed insider information from his tenure under Jagan’s regime.
Subramanyam recounted incidents from the early days of Jagan’s tenure, revealing that Jagan proposed relocating the Vizag Steel Plant to facilitate the construction of the capital there. Jagan reportedly suggested moving the steel plant 20 kilometers away from the city.
Regarding the Amaravati project, the former CS recalled, “Jagan once asked me if the capital should be built in Amaravati. I responded that this was the site designated by the previous government. To my surprise, Jagan remarked that Chandrababu had extensive land holdings in Amaravati, implying it couldn’t be the capital.”
“The casual manner in which such remarks were made without factual basis shocked me,” Subramanyam added. “Upon inquiry with the CRDA, it was confirmed that Naidu did not possess any lands there.”
Commenting on Jagan’s approach, the former CS noted, “There was never an opportunity for an in-depth discussion with Jagan, as he often aimed to conclude meetings within 2 minutes. There was little room to present opposing viewpoints.”
The chief secretary typically works closely with the CM and gains insights into their methods of operation. According to Subramanyam, working with Jagan was akin to navigating a double-edged sword.
