Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for highlighting Araku coffee, a product made in Andhra Pradesh, during his recent Mann Ki Baat radio address. PM Modi, in his speech, emphasized India’s unique products and the importance of supporting local goods. He specifically mentioned Araku coffee from Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharama Raju district, known for its excellent flavor and aroma.
PM Modi highlighted that around 1.5 lakh tribal people are involved in cultivating Araku coffee, and the Girijan Cooperative has played a significant role in its success. This initiative has not only brought farmers together but has also improved their incomes and quality of life.
PM Modi also shared a photo of himself enjoying Araku coffee with CM Chandrababu Naidu during a meeting in Visakhapatnam back in 2016. He praised how Araku coffee cultivation has empowered tribal communities, which CM Naidu echoed in his response.
CM Naidu emphasized that Araku coffee, which holds a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, symbolizes sustainability, tribal empowerment, and innovation. He thanked PM Modi for promoting this truly local product and expressed his eagerness to share another cup of Araku coffee with him in the future.
