YS Jagan Mohan Reddy managed to avoid attending the 20-odd CBI cases pending against him by citing his CM duties as a reason to skip court hearings. Now that he has been stripped of the CM position in the recent election, Jagan is facing accelerated legal action in court.
Just before the 2024 election, veteran from the Kapu community, Hari Rama Jogaiah, filed a case in the Telangana court requesting daily investigation into the pending CBI and ED cases against Jagan. His argument was that the public should vote for representatives without ongoing CBI and ED cases, hence the need for swift resolution of cases against Jagan.
In line with this, the Telangana High Court has directed the Nampally CBI court to conduct daily hearings on the long-pending CBI and ED cases against Jagan. This daily hearing model will expedite the trial of cases filed against Jagan over a decade ago.
While Jagan previously succeeded in delaying the case and related hearings by citing CM duties, he no longer has that luxury. It remains to be seen how he will handle the new challenges posed by the Telangana court.
Raghu Rama Krishna Raju had also filed a PIL in the Supreme Court seeking expedited trials for Jagan’s cases. Now, this legal storm is beginning to hit Jagan following his loss of power.
