In a surprise coincidence, Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, A Revanth Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu, travelled to Delhi and will be camping in the national capital on Wednesday and Thursday.
It is learnt that Naidu had readied a long list of works needing the Centre’s assistance and approval and landed in New Delhi. This is first time that Naidu has visited Delhi after storming to power in Andhra Pradesh with a huge majority.
Reportedly, Naidu will meet Union Ministers specifically for issues related to the state. Earlier, he had attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.
It is likely that Naidu would meet Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to seek funds for the completion of Polavaram project.
He would also ask for additional funds, concessions and tax breaks if the most sought-after special category status cannot be accorded to the state.
Naidu’s list includes reports of pending irrigation projects, Amaravati capital building works, and the general report on the financial condition of the state.
Modi’s Cabinet includes three ministers from Andhra Pradesh and they would accompany the party chief for the meetings. The three ministers to accompany Naidu are TDP’s Srikakulam MP Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, who is the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Guntur MP P Chandrashekar, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Minister of Communications and BJP MP from Narasapuram B R Srinivas Varma who is the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Minister of Steel .
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy will be discussing the possibility of expanding his Cabinet and also about suitable candidates to be picked.
Revanth Reddy inducted 11 party leader as his Cabinet colleagues when he took oath on December 7 last year.
On Wednesday, Reddy met AICC president Kharge. Former BRS leader K. Keshava Rao, and his daughter G. Vijayalakshmi accompanied Reddy when he met Kharge. The father and daughter joined the Congress this morning.
The Telangana CM is likely to speak about a suitable candidate for the TPCC president post. Reddy holds the post currently and his tenure will end this month.
