Naidu in Delhi : One meeting, big push for Amaravati

Published by

Ahead of the upcoming budget sessions in parliament by the Narendra Modi government, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s first visit to Delhi after coming to power assumed much significance. This is because Naidu turned out to be a key coalition partner of the BJP which fell short of majority in the recent Loksabha elections.

It is a known fact Naidu landed in Delhi yesterday to meet the top brass of the saffron party and seek financial assistance and other incentives in the upcoming budget bill to be placed by the new government in the last week of July. Reports suggest that Naidu is scheduled to meet key ministers like Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitaraman, JP Nadda and few others during this visit before interacting with the prime minister. He is likely to ask for assistance to Amaravati and Polavaram.

As per reliable sources in TDP, Naidu convened a crucial meeting just a while ago with cabinet minister for Road Transport and Highways Nithin Gadkari and secured pivotal assurances with respect to significant routes in and around Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

As it was explicitly mentioned by Naidu in his recent press meet about the importance accorded by his government to build a world class capital in Amaravati on war-footing basis in the next five years, his visit to Delhi is expected to provide some impetus to his ambition. Rightly so, his meeting with Gadkari turned out be a fruitful one.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Chinni revealed that Nitin Gadkari gave in-principle approval to Eastern Bypass road in Vijayawada and also sanctioned the outer ring road in Amaravati. Besides these promises, Gadkari also assured to construct a flyover from NTR health university to Nidamanaru. This will end the traffic woes to some extent. .

Nitin Gadkari has reportedly agreed to release necessary orders very soon and kick start the construction works immediately.

Road connectivity and infrastructure will play a very important role in shaping up Amaravati as a model city. So, support from the central government is very crucial because construction of highway roads falls under the ambit of Minister for Road Transport. Hence, Naidu pulled off a conducive meeting with Gadkari, who is one of the most efficient ministers in Modi’s cabinet.

Even before anything concrete emerged from Naidu’s Delhi visit, it is clearly evident from this meeting that many works relating to Amaravati will make headway with the support of the central government. With just one meeting of Naidu with the Delhi bosses, Amaravati got a big push. Many more are expected to follow.
