The recent visit of AP CM Nara Chandra Babu Naidu to Delhi has turned out to be productive. He met several officials and central ministers to get clearance on several pending works. Now, the good news is that the government will soon greenlit the Amaravati Outer Ring Road project.
Preliminary approval has been granted for several projects spanning 189 km. These projects primarily include greenfield highways and expressways. The total cost for land acquisition and construction of the Amaravati ORR is estimated to be between Rs. 20,000 to 25,000 crores.
Additionally, the Center has approved a 60-70 km six-lane greenfield expressway to provide an alternative route between Amaravati and Hyderabad, reducing the current distance. This new expressway will bring significant changes in the next two to three years. The 189 km ORR will traverse the joint Krishna and Guntur districts under the jurisdiction of CRDA.
Moreover, the National Highway between Vijayawada and Hyderabad, currently 270.7 km long, is set to be expanded to six lanes, further enhancing connectivity. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has also proposed converting 3,200 km of state highways into national highways, adding to the state’s existing 7,000 km of national highways.
