Bhogapuram Airport: Naidu Sets A Deadline

The proposed greenfield airport at Bhogapuram, which is just 40 kms away from Vishakapatnam, is one of the long cherished dreams for the people of North Andhra Pradesh. This is because of the fact that this airport will give a huge fillip to business activity around the region and pave way for development of the backward region.

As Srikakulam MP and popular TDP leader from North Andhra, Ram Mohan Naidu, is at the helm of affairs for Civil Aviation Ministry in Modi’s cabinet, the people of the state are expecting that the Bhogapuram airport will become operational very soon.

Earlier today, Naidu inspected the ongoing works at the Bhogapuram airport and announced that the central government is committed for its speedy completion. He asserted that the airport will start operating by 2026. He stated that the construction of terminal will be completed by this December and promised to put all his efforts to get requisite permissions from the government.

Naidu said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan are very particular to fulfill the election promise about Bhogapuram airport. The GMR Group should take the necessary steps in this regard,” said Mr. Rammohan Naidu. He hoped that the airport would have more passenger traffic compared to the initial estimation of 4.4 lakh per year.

He said the Bhogapuram airport will result in employment opportunities to more than 6 lakhs and will also be beneficial for the neighbouring states.

Though the land was acquired for Bhogapuram Airport a few years ago, the project could not take off as some land owners went to the court on compensation issues.
