Why not Kuppam? – Babu Started Counter Game!

After assessing the electoral verdict in Andhra Pradesh, many observers believe that the municipal elections held three years ago, which overwhelmingly favored YCP, were heavily influenced by the ruling party at the time. This is the only explanation for how YCP, which won every municipality in the state except Tadipatri, was reduced to just 11 seats in the recent assembly elections.

Now, TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu seems to have initiated a new political strategy by gaining control of key municipality seats from YCP. The latest developments regarding the Kuppam municipality exemplify this shift.

Reportedly, Kuppam Municipal Chairman Dr. Sudhakar, who was previously aligned with YCP, is on his way to Amaravati to meet Chandrababu Naidu. Sudhakar, along with nine other councilors from Kuppam municipality, is expected to resign from YCP and join TDP. This move indicates that YCP, which previously held sway over Kuppam, will now lose control of this segment to TDP.

Previously, TDP had support from 6 out of 25 wards in Kuppam. With Chairman Sudhakar and the nine councilors joining TDP, this number could rise to 16. Consequently, TDP will now have significant influence over the Kuppam municipality.

Earlier, YCP used their control of Kuppam Municipality to promote their “Why not Kuppam?” campaign slogan. However, Chandrababu Naidu has not only comfortably won the Kuppam assembly seat but has also secured control of the Kuppam municipality from YCP.
