BRS is already in trouble in Telangana, having lost the 2023 MLA elections and failing to win any seats in the recent MP elections. To compound their woes, the party is now facing an exodus of its MLAs. With 7 MLAs already departed, BRS is now set to lose 6 more MPs, beginning today.
According to reports, 6 BRS MLAs from the Greater Hyderabad region are poised to quit the party and join the Congress.
The first to make the move is Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud, who will officially join Congress today in the presence of CM Revanth Reddy. The political switch has already been finalized, and Prakash’s oath-taking ceremony with Congress is imminent.
Adding to BRS’s woes, 5 more MLAs are expected to join the Congress camp tomorrow, July 13th.
Uppal MLA Bandaru Lakshma Reddy, LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy, Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, and Qutbullapur MLA Vivekananda Goud are reportedly set to switch to Congress tomorrow.
Despite putting up a surprisingly strong performance in the Greater Hyderabad region during the assembly elections, BRS is struggling to maintain momentum as a significant number of its MLAs defect to Congress. With these defections, BRS’s strength in the assembly could fall to 25-26 members.
