No More Loudmouths & ‘Fire’brands In AP Assembly

Published by

The newly-formed TDP coalition government will hold the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from July 23. Will the Opposition YCP attend the Assembly sessions is a million dollar question.

In all likelihood, the YCP legislators might abstain from attending the Assembly owing to their meagre numbers.

Even if they attend the Assembly, their presence would be lackluster as the party’s loudmouth and firebrands are missing in action.

With many of the firebrand leaders losing the 2024 elections, there are only first-timers and others preferring to make constructive criticism in the party. It is being speculated that there would be no “fire” in the YCP this time.

At one time when the YCP was in the opposition, there used to be many leaders who used to be vocal and aggressive in expressing their opinion. Roja, Kodali Nani, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Anil Kumar Yadav took the discussions in the Assembly to a peak level. However, this time Jagan is not a firebrand. Nor is he a leader known for his quick retort and wit.

YCP senior leader Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy is also not a prominent leader with good oratory skills. His brother Dwarakanath Reddy also prefers to be a silent leader.

First-timers Virupakshi from Alur, Visweswara Raju from Paderu, Regaam Matsya Lingam from Araku, Chandrasekhar from Erragondapalem are likely to maintain silence as they are new to the Assembly.

Darsi MLA Buchepalli Sivaprasad Reddy is a good speaker but not a firebrand. However, he is likely to raise his voice to some extent.

Rajampet MLA Akepati Amarnath Reddy, and Bala Nagi Reddy from Mantralayam are silent leaders.

Dasari Sudha from Badvel, a doctor by profession, might not get involved in the unnecessary arguments.

In total, the YCP might not be able to show its opposition mark in the Assembly.
