The YSRCP government is planning to reorganise districts in the state and increase the number to 25. Accordingly AP CM YS Jagan initiated a high level committee that is being led by Chief Secretary (CS) in August. The committee is busy with its activities for the last two months and is still working on it.
The latest update about reorganisation of districts, is the new districts would be announced on Republic Day of next year i.e, January 26th, 2021. This was categorically confirmed by AP Assembly Deputy Speaker Kona Raghupathi.
Speaking to the media in Guntur, Kona said, “Our government and Jagan’s thoughts are to convert every Parliament segment into a new district. But there is a demand to make Aaraku segment as a district and we will certainly consider the people’s demand of that place. So the districts number would not be 25 and it would go up by one.”
Currently AP has 13 districts and the high level committee is studying various aspects of bifurcating districts. Jagan asked the committee to make sure no controversy erupts once the districts are finalised.
