YCP Skips All-Party Meet On Local Polls

Published by

In view of conducting the Local Body elections in the state, the AP State Election Commissioner (APSEC) has called for an all party meeting on Wednesday. Except the ruling party, all the major and minor political parties in the state attended the meeting called by APSEC.

However, the YCP and Navatharam parties have filed petitions against this all-party meeting in the AP High Court. Rejecting the petitions, the court said it can’t issue a stay on this meeting as it is being conducted by the election commission.

As soon as the High Court rejected the petition, the YCP government has decided to skip the meeting. TDP, Congress, BJP and BSP leaders have graced the meeting and they urged the APSEC to issue a fresh notification for the local polls and also take back the old notification in which many candidates were unanimously elected.

Overall, the YCP clearly appears to be nowhere interested to go for the Local Body elections.
