Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister Nara Lokesh is currently touring the USA, actively engaging with representatives of global companies and inviting them to invest in AP. In one such attempt, he has encouraged global EV giant Tesla to consider investing in Anantapur, AP.
While visiting Tesla’s headquarters in Austin today, Lokesh pitched Anantapur as the perfect location for Tesla’s EV and battery units. During his discussion with CFO Vaibhav Taneja, Lokesh emphasized the vision of transforming Andhra Pradesh into an EV manufacturing hub under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu.
As part of a larger aspiration, Lokesh confirmed that Andhra Pradesh is targeting 72 GW of renewable energy by 2029 and is ready to lead the green energy revolution. The state is eager to collaborate with global innovators like Tesla to achieve this goal.
CM Chandrababu Naidu already has significant credit for bringing the KIA plant to the economically backward Anantapur district, creating thousands of job opportunities.
If Lokesh can bring Tesla to Anantapur, it could be a monumental deal for AP. This could be a game-changer for the state, especially if it manages to outpace Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, which are also actively inviting Tesla.
