YCP boss and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s arrogance and unyielding nature resulted in the party’s crushing defeat in the Assembly polls, leaving party leaders in a difficult position.
Following the defeat, Jagan recently appointed party district in-charges. However, the perceived discrimination in this appointment process has caused resentment among several senior party leaders, who feel deserted despite their efforts to strengthen the party.
Many of these leaders are desperately trying to switch their loyalties but are struggling to find better options. Among those searching for alternatives are Katasani Rambhupal Reddy from Kurnool district, Gadikota Srikanth Reddy, former Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagireddy, Thaneti Vantiha, and Pushpa Sri Vani.
These leaders are just a few of those ready to leave the YCP. The list of those wanting to exit is much longer, largely due to their past misdemeanors with the public and negligence toward constituents’ grievances.
Moreover, coalition parties of the TDP are also hesitant to welcome them back due to past political gaffes.
With no other options, YCP senior leaders are being forced to remain in the same party. It has been reported that several senior leaders advised Jagan to avoid placing his photos on Land Titling Act papers, birth, and death certificates. However, an arrogant Jagan Mohan Reddy continued with his own beliefs, contributing to the electoral defeat.
YCP senior leaders should learn from past experiences and strive to engage in more public-friendly politics.
