AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for trying to dilute the sanctity of the Waqf properties by introducing an amendment to the Waqf Bill.
Owaisi welcomed TTD chairman’s announcement that his agenda is to remove non-Hindus in the Board’s administration and said that why was not the Centre allowing the same to be done with the Waqf Board.
He accused the Centre of discriminating against the Muslims with regard to their personal and religious beliefs.
“Modi wants to include non-Muslims into Waqf Board both in the State Waqf Board and Central Waqf Council, and also give powers to the concerned district collectors to reclaim the properties. This is totally unacceptable.”
When Hindus can firmly tell that their temple boards and trustees should be only Hindus mandatorily, why is such right not being given to the Muslims, he asked.
Owaisi also made it clear that Modi was only levelling baseless allegations that Muslims have been trying to encroach even government properties and claim them as Waqf assets. “Remember that Waqf properties are donated to the Supreme Allah and Muslims will not lie regarding that assets.”
When asked about the irregularities in the Waqf Board, Owaisi retaliated that misappropriations are occurring even in the temple boards and endowments department.
This argument really needs some serious thinking and the authorities need to initiate concrete steps to avoid discrimination.
