Senior Minister P Narayana was the first to respond to Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s comments on behalf of the TDP. Pawan’s remarks, made during a meeting in Pithapuram, urged AP Home Minister Anita to review the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh, which sparked significant discussion.
Pawan’s statement, clarifying that he holds the position of Panchayati Raj Minister while Anita is the Home Minister, included a remark that if he were the Home Minister, the situation would be different. His comments were not intended to be political, though YCP leaders have criticized them as an indication of failure within the Home Department under the NDA government.
In his response, Minister Narayana said it is natural for a Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister to express opinions on various departments as a general matter. He explained that officials in these positions have full authority and that Pawan’s comments should be seen as a constructive alert, not as placing blame.
Identifying and addressing areas for improvement within the government is not wrong, Narayana emphasized. He added that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will address minor issues in the NDA government and that Pawan’s remarks pertained to a specific incident, which the Home Minister will act upon. Narayana clarified that Pawan did not suggest removing the Home Department, and he noted that while police officers sometimes face procedural challenges that cause delays, they would work more promptly going forward.
