YSR Congress party social media activist Varra Ravindra Reddy, who is allegedly a close aide to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s wife YS Bharathi and Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy, was arrested in Pulivendula on Tuesday by Andhra Pradesh police for his instigating posts on various platforms.
Several cases were registered against him in Hyderabad and Mangalagiri in the past for posting defamatory and abusive content against TDP leaders when YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was in power. Jagan’s relative Sunitha Narreddy also lodged a complaint against him for his offensive and threatening posts on her and Sharmila.
Acting on these complaints against his disparaging remarks on leaders like Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh, Pawan and many others, AP police finally arrested him yesterday and was brought to Kadapa in the early morning for a thorough enquiry. Shockingly, he was released immediately after issue of 41-A notice. This callous attitude of police personnel angered both the Chief Minister and the DGP.
Reportedly, Chandrababu Naidu and DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao sought a detailed enquiry into the matter and called an explanation from Kadapa SP Harshavardhan Raju through Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen.
As per latest reports, both CM and DGP expressed deep dissatisfaction over the manner in which the Kadapa police have handled the case and let off the accused without following the due procedure. Reportedly, SP Harshavardhan Raju has been immediately transferred for his inaction, holding him fully responsible for the case.
A few days ago, Pawan Kalyan openly criticised and made stinging remarks on the police department for their failure in ensuring proper law and order in the state and also flayed at their lethargic approach in dealing with criminals and miscreants who are resorting to anti-social elements. He questioned why the police department was not able to act promptly on those are issuing death threats against the Chief Minister.
From the past couple of days, several YSR Congress party leaders have been arrested over their abusive posts on social media. However, there is no firm action so far.
