What is the latest update on Jagan’s furniture ?

Published by

A few days after coming to power, the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh accused YSR Congress party and its president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of holding onto expensive furniture at his camp office even after losing power. Reportedly, the furniture worth crores was funded from government coffers to be used for official purpose.

It was alleged that Jagan used this furniture for his residence-cum-camp office in Tadepalli when he was Chief Minister, but refused to return and instead put a proposal to retain some of those items by paying the cost incurred for their purchase to the government. YSRCP listed out the items it wished to retain and asked the general administration department to take the remaining items.

YCP claims that the GAD didn’t respond to the requests of YSRCP as it wants to take back the entire furniture, MLC and General Secretary of the party, Lella Appireddy filed a petition in the High Court last month. The litigation came to hearing on Friday and public prosecutor pointed out that the details in the verification column were noted wrongly.

Justice B. Krishna Mohan questioned why the petition was listed when there are mistakes in the litigation. On the request of the petitioner’s lawyer to rectify the mistakes, the case was adjourned for two weeks.

While the YSRCP claims that he had written multiple times to the GAD for clearance of furniture and also agreed to pay back for some of these items, the Telugu Desam Party labelled Jagan as Furniture Thief and accused him of retaining government property for party purposes instead of returning.
