Andhra Pradesh general elections were a story of two halves. While the majority of the constituencies observed peaceful polling, certain centers, particularly in the Palnadu area saw extreme violence.
One such poll-day violence incident that happened in Palnadu, put the life of toughened TDP grassroots-level leader Manjula Reddy in danger. Notably, she was hacked with a Goddali(axe) by a faction belonging to the YSR Congress party on polling day while she was operating as the booth agent in Rentachintala village.
This happened when Manjula refused to leave the polling booth while YCP leaders tried to rig the EVM and cause violence.
The picture of Manjula Reddy with a severe hack cut on her forehead revolted the entire TDP system that day and her ferocity was lauded by one and all.
Today, for all the struggles Manjula had endured, she has been fairly rewarded as she was handed over a nominated post by the Chandrababu-led government. She is announced as the chairman of AP Shilparamam Arts, Crafts and Cultural Society, Vijayawada. This communication was made today.
TDP cadres are happy to see one of their own ferocious leaders being rightly rewarded for her bravery by Chandrababu himself. This is one of the reasons why TDP is widely regarded as a cadre-driven party and Chandrababu has upheld this spirit with this consolidated action.
