The Alluri Sitarama Raju district police identified illegal cultivation of ganja in five acres at Degalarayi village in G Madugula mandal and destroyed it, employing drone technology successfully.
The police utilized drones to uncover and even destroy the crop being cultivated illegally.
Police said that legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in the cultivation.
The discovery and destruction is a commendable job by the police.
In tune with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s thrust on the use of technology in daily life and governance, the police used the advanced technological gadgets and identified the piece of land on which ganja was being grown, amidst the thick forest in the agency area.
It is worth recalling that the Amaravati Drone Summit held last month set five Guinness World Records with 5,500 drones. The Summit marks the dawn of the drone ear in Andhra Pradesh, the CM said.
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan also expressed concern that drugs have become a menace in the state. He held the previous government responsible for the increased drug trafficking in the state and said that the NDA government had inherited it from the YCP rule.
As urged by the Deputy CM, the police laid focus on the areas ganja is being cultivated and tried to put a check on its drug peddling.
