CM Chandrababu is extensively focusing on enhancing the business image of Andhra Pradesh after 5 years of tyranny in the Jagan regime that drove away the investors from the state. In tune with this plan, Babu has been meeting with countless potential suitors and tech giants and proposing investment plans in AP.
Yesterday, it was an inaugural meeting with Tata Companies Executive Chairman, N Chandrasekharan that is leading to several discussions now.
In the meeting, it has primarily been established that Tata Group continues to be an important stakeholder in the growth of Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Chandrababu.
During the meeting with Chandrasekaran today, Babu discussed some key areas of growth in AP, where the government and Tata Group could collaborate.
One of the primary points that came to discussion are that TCS is committed to establishing a new IT Development Center in Visakhapatnam, with a potential for up to 10,000 jobs. In order to boost tourism and industrial growth, Indian Hotels is exploring setting up another 20 hotels across the state (Taj, Vivanta, Gateway, Selections and Ginger Hotels) along with a large convention centre.
As for energy projects, Tata Power is evaluating over 5 GW in solar and wind projects, with a potential Rs 40,000 Cr investment. They are also exploring potential collaboration to innovate deep tech and AI solutions for primary healthcare.
With this mega collaborative plan with Tata, there is far more than what meets the eye. Having a reputed giant like Tata putting up such vast investments in AP could propel a series of global giants to look at AP.
Nara Lokesh has also played his part in the process as he met the representatives of NVIDIA, Tesla, Google, and others on his US trip recently. Once Tata is up and running in AP, this could propel a series of other global giants to explore options in AP. And if Babu can pull of a coup and bring Tesla to AP by beating competition from Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, then sky is the limit for AP henceforth.
