As part of the government’s crackdown on unbridled hate mongering and abusive content on social media platforms against political rivals, the Kadapa police unearthed how YSR Congress party ran a malicious and organised campaign in the last five at the behest of party high command.
The key conspirator and mastermind Varra Ravindra Reddy, a notorious social media activist and close aide of YS Bharati and Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy, who is one of those behind the online campaign was arrested and immediately presented before the media yesterday to avoid any further drama from their family members.
He has been nabbed along with a few other individuals affiliated to YSRCP in different cases over posting disgusting and deplorable comments using foul language on prominent politicians when YSR Congress party was in power.
As per latest reports, Varra Ravindra Reddy was produced in the court today morning before the judge. He has been ordered judicial remand for 14 days immediately. The court ordered to issue 41-A notices to two others and release them immediately. Varra alleged that he was manhandled by the police in custody and sought medical treatment. The judge directed the police to conduct medical tests. He was sent to Kadapa jail.
With Varra getting arrested, there is every chance that all those big names who were behind the derogatory posts on social media are likely to come out during interrogation. Already, the police have discovered that Avinash Reddy’s PA Raghav Reddy used to send messages Ravindra Reddy to post content on social media platforms against Sharmila and Vijayamma.
Sajjala Bhargav Reddy, son of Jagan’s close aide Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy, is also accused of backing the entire social media hate campaign with the use of government resources and money. The Andhra Pradesh police are likely to arrest more individuals and set a strong precedent against promoting such a disgusting menace for political reasons.
