IT and education minister Nara Lokesh asserted that he would design and frame an ‘Andhra Pradesh model’ in the education sector, by bringing in several revolutionary reforms from KG to PG sections.
The Andhra Pradesh model will beat both the Delhi and Kerala models of education, he added.
Lokesh also said that he wants to do away with ‘leader worship’ in the education sector and hence, directed the officials not to highlight the minister concerned or Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s photos in any of material to be distributed to the students or in the education ministry’s programmes.
When news about education ministry being given to me, several people tried to advise and suggest that I avoid that department because it involves a lot of hassles intrinsically, Lokesh recalled.
“But I being an MBA from the reputed Stanford University took charge of the ministry considering it as a challenge. In the next five years, with the cooperation of the education officials, I want to position the Andhra Pradesh model of education to be an ideal one in the country.”
These initiatives by the education minister are a welcoming change. Lokesh’s idea to delineate politics from education is a noble one. If there is quality in education, the future of the state and country will certainly be bright.
This also shows that Lokesh is proving to be a leader with a vision just like his father.
