Undi MLA K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju assumed office as the Deputy Speaker in the AP Assembly on Thursday.
Following the custom, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju formally led him to his chair and congratulated him after being invited to occupy the seat by Speaker Chintakayala Ayyana Patrudu.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM addressed Raju as ‘Adhyaksha’ and said that RRR created a sensation in politics, just as the movie RRR created a sensation in the film circles by bagging several Oscars.
In the movie RRR, the rollicking dance number ‘Naatu Naatu’ was a super hit. Similarly, RRR’s ‘Rachabanda’ was also an instant hit, Naidu said.
Rachabanda, which continued more like a daily serial for nearly three years during the YCP rule, was something which the public waited anxiously for more revelations and behind the scenes violence by the YCP leaders.
RRR also mimicked former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and added spice to the news stories by informing the public about that happening inside Jagan’s private chamber and Tadepalli palace.
RRR acted as the main opposition during the YCP rule when the TDP fell short of numbers and could not withstand the harassment and humiliation by the YCP in the Assembly.
Indirectly hinting at the physical torture meted out to RRR during Jagan’s rule, by lodging him in the jail and thrashing him, Naidu said life throws curveballs at times, when we have to face them with courage and bravery.
Naidu indicated that RRR had risen above all the challenges thrown at him by Jagan and emerged a winner, stepping into the state and occupying a respectable position in the Assembly.
It is worth recalling RRR could not even visit his native constituency Narsapur from where he was elected as an MP, during the YCP rule.
Assembly Speaker Ayyana Patrudu also conveyed his wishes and hoped that RRR would strive for the development of the state in the coming days.
