Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and IT minister N. Lokesh lauded Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju for his valour and courage in opposing the same party to which he belonged, during his tenure as a YCP MP.
The Deputy CM said that RRR’s ascension to prominence in politics would be an inspiration for other political leaders. “There is no certainty. During the 2024 elections, the same YCP could be voted to power or the TDP might emerge victorious. If the YCP comes to power, the situation would be much worse. Even in such a situation, you remained unfazed and continued your battle to uphold ‘democratic’ values.”
After his release from police custody, RRR could not walk properly and had to be shifted in a wheelchair, reflecting the tough time the MP had faced in the jail.
However, RRR remained steadfast and continued waging his war against Jagan through Rachabanda and several other court cases.
IT minister Nara Lokesh also praised RRR and said he will be an ideal for young MLAs like him. There is no space for cowardice in RRR’s bio-data. Despite being tortured mercilessly in police custody, you kept smiling while being shifted to the Hyderabad Military Hospital for treatment. None of us faced custodial torture. The YCP leaders foisted cases and even attacked us but none of us experienced custodial torture.
Under the YCP rule, RRR fought against his own party boss and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, putting him on the tenterhooks. Though put to many hardships, including legal battles and even custodial torture, RRR remained unfazed and continued his onslaught against the ‘undemocratic’ forces. RRR was arrested and shifted to Guntur CID office from Hyderabad on May 14, 2021 and since then, he had to face the vengeance of Jagan Mohan Reddy, to the extent that the latter insisted that he should watch the MP being thrashed live.
Cut to present scene, sitting in the Speaker Chair, RRR maintained his poise and remained humble, despite being heaped in praises and kind words.
