One of the many anti-social allegations against Kakinada ex MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy was the illegal export of rice that belonged to the AP civil supplies department. In response to this, Pawan Kalyan, while he was in opposition vowed to take stern measures against Dwarampudi and also curb the illegal export operation.
However, despite the onset of the NDA government, there have been complaints that the Kakinada port is still harboring illegal rice export operations. This has anguished Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan today as he went on an inspection to the port.
After identifying that the export operations are still prevalent, Pawan Kalyan reprimanded Kakinada TDP MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao. “We fought against the ex MLA and his men over this illegal operation. But now we are again witnessing the continuation of the same illegal activity, then where are the corrective measures we are vowing to take?” This happened after Pawan visited the area where Kakinada collector seized 640 tonnes of rice that was otherwise being smuggled from Kakinada port.
The deputy CM went on to lecture Port Officer Dharma Sastry, DSP Raghuveer, and Civil Supplies Officer Prasad on this matter. He made it very clear that the NDA government is very serious about the illegal rice export activities and warned the officers of serious consequences if they don’t take requisite measures.
With the deputy CM himself firing on local TDP MLA, and concerned port officers, the chances are that certain measures might be taken against the rice smuggling operation. This infamous culture was brought on Kakinada port by Dwarampudi during the YCP tenure and the onus is one NDA government to put a full stop to it.
