As reported earlier, Andhra Pradesh is bracing up for the forthcoming Rajyasabha election this year and related back-end activities are underway. Eenadu has now come up with an interesting report in this regard as they have confirmed that TDP and BJP have secured a RS MP seat each, meaning two out of the three vacant seats are sorted already. Apparently, the third vacant seat is also going for TDP.
As per the report, TDP has finalized Beeda Mastan Rao as its candidate for the RS election, while BJP has finalized R Krishnaiah. Incidentally, both these candidates were already enjoying the same RS MP positions on behalf of YCP, before quitting the party following the 2024 electoral debacle. The third vacant seat is also likely to go for TDP, it seems.
As it appears, Janasena will stay away from the RS electoral race. This could be in tune with the recent developments where it was reported that Pawan discussed the idea of proposing Nagababu for Rajya Sabha on JSP’s behalf.
This narrative was quickly shut down by Nagababu as he revealed he has no intention of holding a position of power and just wants to be by the side of his leader Pawan Kalyan. This could be the reason why JSP could have no representation in the RS election this time. That being said, this is just a report from Eenadu and nothing is finalized for now.
Oddly enough, two of the Rajyasabha MPs who were earlier with YCP are now projected to secure these posts again, this time on behalf of the NDA alliance. With more positions bound to open up in the future as the tenure of YCP MPs comes to an end, we could see more consolidated action from TDP and Janasena then.
