Opposition MPs, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, staged a protest outside the Parliament on Monday.
As part of it, they held a ‘mock interview’ targeting BJP-led NDA government on the Adani issue.
Two MPs, wearing masks, impersonated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and billionaire Gautam Adani, and answered questions posed by Gandhi.
As Rahul Gandhi asks what is happening, the MPs wearing Adani mask says, “whatever I say, he does,” pointing towards the other MP wearing Modi’s mask.
When asked to describe their “partnership”, they reply, “We do everything together. We have had a partnership for years.”
On Rahul questioning why were they stalling Parliament proceedings, the MPs in the mask say, “He is missing today. Amit Bhai (Union minister Amit Shah) did not come to the House today.”
In another question, Rahul Gandhi asked the MP wearing the Adani mask why was Modi speaking less in the Parliament these days, he answers “kuch tension hai.”
This reply sparked laughter among the actors and onlookers.
The Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, took to X and posted the photo of the interview, saying “This is a special and long standing relationship!”.
Since the beginning of the winter session, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were disrupted as the opposition pushed for a discussion on the US allegations about Adani bribery charges.
Even today, the Lok Sabha was adjourned after opposition members once again raised the issue.
Significantly, the Trinamool Congress TMC) and Samajwadi Party (SP) MPs were absent at the protest. NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule also was not present at the place.
