The Corona virus has caused huge destruction across the globe. To contain the spread of virus, lockdown and social distancing were the only options and many countries have imposed this. India too followed the lockdown despite the negative impact on economy.
After the first lockdown, many states wanted to the lockdown to be extended and so PM Modi pushed it till May 3rd. State governments, police department have made numerous awareness campaigns about social distance and stay at homes during lockdown.
In Andhra Pradesh, the lockdown was violated by the few YSRCP MLAs. Public representatives should lead from the front to set an example for the people but unfortunately the ruling party MLAs ignored it.
For violating the lockdown, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed against the YSRCP MLAs. An advocate by name Kishore has filed this petition and claimed that YSRCP MLAs are taking part in public gatherings and rallies putting people’s lives at stake. He urged the court to refrain YSRCP MLAs from taking part in any events in the coming days and they should also undergo Corona tests as a precautionary measure.
The advocate has included the names of Nagari MLA Roja, Chilakalurpeta MLA Vedudala Rajini, Srikalahasti MLA Madhusudhan Reddy, Sulurpeta MLA Sanjeevaiah and Palamaneru MLA Venkat Goud in his petition and requested the court to add them as respondents.
We have to see how the YSRCP MLAs will react now.
