The government of Andhra Pradesh held a collective seminar with Collectors and SPs in the state yesterday. Several administrative and law and order issues came to discussion in the meeting which turned out to be a very productive one.
One of the hallmark points of the meeting was when deputy CM Pawan Kalyan cited the example of Kasab to reinstate the seriousness of the smuggling operations at the Kakinada Seaport.
Pawan Kalyan noted that there are three check posts on the way to the Kakinada Port, but the smuggling is still freely going on.
“I don’t even know whom to blame. It is the responsibility of the local collectors and SPs to keep an active watch and nab the culprits. It can’t be forgotten that this same go-easy attitude costed our nation 300 lives when Kasab and his men were let into the country through Mumbai seaway. If we are careless with our borders, then the same thing could happen in the future. I’m worried about the situation at Kakinada port now.”
Not stopping there, Pawan Kalyan went on to criticise the operations of the vigilance department as well. “If the vigilance department is working well, then there is no need for the minister Manohar Garu to physically go and inspect the port premises. We are calling for action from the vigilance department as well.”
This is not the first time, Pawan Kalyan is turning serious on the Kakinada port issue. He has been repeatedly bringing up the topic and even mentioning national security so as to highlight the seriousness of the matter. He has brought up the example of Kasab again as well.
With so much emphasis being placed on this matter, a fair bit of corrective action could be taken in the next few weeks.
