Hours After Avanti, Grandhi Quits YCP

Published by

The YSR Congress is well and truly facing substantial crisis in Andhra Pradesh with several senior leaders who held ministries and high leek positions in the YCP tenure leaving the party. Earlier today, it was former minister Avanti Srinivas who quit the party.

Just a couple of hours after Avanti quit YCP, another senior leader Grandhi Srinivas has also quit the party.

Grandhi Srinivas turned popular after defeating Pawan Kalyan from Bhimavaram constituency in the 2019 elections. He ruled the roost in Bhimavaram for five years and even repeatedly challenged Pawan to come and contest here again in 2024.

In the end, Grandhi himself ended up losing by a huge margin in Bhimavaram this year, ironically to a JSP candidate. With this landslide defeat, his stakes can crashing down as he got humiliated in his own constituency.

Much like Avanti Srinivas, even Grandhi is said to be distraught with the YCP high command. After having defeated Pawan in 2019, Grandhi hoped he would be included in the cabinet by Jagan but that wasn’t even remotely the case. He was barely recognised by the party over the last five years.

Finally today, Grandhi called it quits as he resigned from YCP. Will he have the audacity to join the NDA alliance now, or will he be staying away from politics for a while? Only time will tell.
