The emergence of YS Sharmila, as the President of Andhra Pradesh, Congress might have given the party, some sort of a face value. But on the contrary, there are a few negative effects of her appointment as well.
In particular former cabinet minister in the erstwhile united state of Andhra Pradesh, Sailajanath has steadily stayed away from the party after Sharmila took charge. Interestingly, he has met YS Jagan Mohan Reddy now.
Before Sharmila on boarded Andhra Pradesh, Congress, Sailajanath was one of the few hardcore Congress leaders to raise their voice and keep the party afloat to whatever degree they could. But after Sharmila took charge, he almost entirely deserted the party.
Then, out of the blue, he came out and met YS Jagan. This reportedly happened when Jagan went to a reception event in Kurnool where the YCP boss met Sailajanath. Interestingly enough, Sailajanath hugged Jagan at the event, thus reiterating the possible positive reinforcements that he has with the latter.
This has now led to speculation is that Sailajanath might soon be joining YSR Congress. With Jagan’s party also losing a lot of sheen after the 2024 election, it would certainly open doors to every single leader who wishes to join their ranks.
While there is no official word on whether or not, this collaboration would happen, the recent meeting has led to social media theories. It has to be seen if the congress veteran would actually go on to take Jagan’s side now. If that really turns out to be the case, then he would be the first notable leader to leave congress in Sharmila’s regime.
