After Losing Kadapa Fortress, Jagan Appeals To Locals

For many decades now, the Kadapa district has been a strong fortress for the YS family. The outright domination in the district started with YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime, and It was continued for around 10 years by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

However, this Kadapa fortress was bombarded by the NDA alliance in the 2024 assembly election. After having won all 10 assembly seats in erstwhile Kadapa district in 2019, YSR Congress got restricted to a bare minimum two seats in the 2024 election.

If we take out Jagan’s customary win from Pulivendula, then it essentially means that YCP won just a single seat in Kadapa, barring Pulivendula. This is a result that could send jitters down the spines of even hardcore YS loyalists.

It appears that this problematic situation in Kadapa has triggered a serious reaction from Jagan himself. The same could be understood if we look at his latest interaction with Kadapa district leaders.

While interacting with the Kadapa locals yesterday, Jagan projected himself as the son of Kadapa land. “My political life started in Kadapa. I travelled with my father YSR in Kadapa. I first became an MP thanks your unconditional love and support. I later went on to become the chief minister with your support. If Jagan is the CM, then it means a Kadapa boy is the CM” the YCP boss told in his interaction.

If YSR Congress is to script a comeback in Andhra Pradesh, then winning Rayalaseema segment is of quintessential importance. And for that to happen, winning the Kadapa segment first is mandatory.

After watching Jagan’s latest interaction with Kadapa locals, senior political observers are commenting that he appears to have comprehended the kind of damage his party took in his own bastion. They are opining that Jagan is in damage reversal mode as he is looking to make up with his family loyalists.

At the end of the day, if Jagan isn’t winning the trust of Kadapa, then there is no way he can take his claim for the chief minister chair.
