In what could be considered a gutting news, the former prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh has sadly passed away a few minutes back. He died due to age-related ailments as his vitals collapsed despite being admitted to the hospital.
Manmohan Singh, 92, is a renowned politician, economist, academician, and bureaucrat who served as the PM of India from 2004 to 2014. He is the fourth longest-serving prime minister after Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Narendra Modi.
Though he wasn’t very vocal during his time as the prime minister, he is regarded as one of India’s greatest ever economists who navigated through multiple fiscal hardships during his tenure.
Prior to his appointment as the prime minister, Singh worked as the governor of RBI, served as the union finance minister, and leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha. He was then strengthened by the Congress party as PM candidate twice (2004, 2009).
The nation now mourns the passing of one of its finest political exponents who maintained a clean image all through his political career.
Gulte.com expresses deep condolences to the family of Manmohan Singh.
