It is known that the infamous 2004 Ali bomb blast is one of the most significant development in Andhra Pradesh politics. The then chief Chandrababu Naidu was injured in this incident and it set a new political discourse in Andhra Pradesh politics.
Now, Nara Lokesh has given an interesting insight into the series of events that happened after the bomb blast, and this has something to do with the late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Lokesh tweeted “The year 2004 was a particularly difficult time for us. Our leader Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had recently recovered from an attempt on his life after a dangerous bomb blast by naxals near tirupati and the TDP had just lost the 2004 elections.
At this crucial time, the new state government had moved to reduce security cover to Mr. Chandrababu garu. This would’ve prevented him from being with the people and representing their issues.”
Lokesh went on to add that Chandrababu met the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and explained the security concerns and requested to restore full security.
At that crucial point in time, despite Chandrababu having lost the election, while YS Rajasekhar Reddy- led Congress stormed to power, Manmohan Singh acted on humanitarian grounds and restored full security to Chandrababu.
“In fact, he(Manmohan Singh) specifically told Mr. Chandrababu garu that by the time you go back to hyderabad, NSG security cover will be ready for you.” Lokesh added.
This really reinstates the kind of statement statesmanship that was exhibited by Manmohan Singh at the sensitive point in time. This is perhaps the reason why he is one of the most tribute prime ministers this country had ever seen.
