As reported earlier, the ACB and ED are actively pursuing the Formula E car racing scam case that has been filed against former IT Minister KTR. The investigative agencies are approaching the case from PMLA(Prevention of Money Laundering Act) angle.
However, KTR has approached the Telangana High Court with the petition to quash the case that has been filed against him. While the court had earlier instructed the investigation agencies not to arrest KTR till December 31, this case came to hearing again today.
In what could be considered a major relief to KTR the Telangana High Court reserved the judgement on the Clash petition and instructed the agencies not to arrest the BRS leader until further judgement is announced.
What this essentially means is that KTR cannot be arrested in the Formula E case until the High Court passes the judgement.
In its counter-petition, the ACB argued for the cancellation of KTR’s interim bail, stating that his release could hinder the investigation. The bureau has also sought his custody to question him regarding the allegations. But the court stated that no coercive action can be taken on KTR for the time being.
The principal allegation here is that KTR verbally consented the siphoning off of Rs 55 crores to foreign companies with regard to the Formula E case.
