The TDP is known to be a cadre-based party stressing the importance given to the cadre comparative to other political parties. In a short time from now, the party is expected to achieve another milestone in the membership enrolment drive, when the number of activists would soar to a staggering one crore.
Since its inception, the TDP had focused on strengthening the cadre as its founder and veteran actor N.T. Rama Rao believed that the activists formed the bridge between the leadership and the public. Accordingly, the activists having good track record have been elevation in the party positions, along with financial support to their families.
After Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu took over as the president of the party, the cadre’s importance has grown much deeper, providing them with more amenities and promotion in their political status.
Continuing with the tradition, TDP scion N. Lokesh said that the party has signed a pact with the United Insurance Company and Pragmatic Insurance Broking to provide insurance cover to one crore party activists.
This is the first time that the party has planned to provide insurance to such a large number of their activists.
According to the agreement, the party has paid Rs 42 crore as premium for insurance cover from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 for one crore TDP activists.
The same amount would be paid as premium for the insurance cover next year too.
At the minister’s house in Undavalli, the pact was signed by Lokesh and representatives of United India Insurance and Pragmatic Insurance Broking.
According to the agreement, every activist will be entitled for an insurance amount of Rs 5 lakh, in case of any accident to them.
TDP scion and minister N. Lokesh said that he had spent around Rs 138 crore towards the welfare of the party activists, since he assumed charge as the caretaker of the Activists’ Welfare Fund.
Apart from financial aid, the TDP also set up a legal wing to bail out party activists framed in legal cases by the previous government. A special cell has also been set up at the party headquarters for the rehabilitation of party activists injured in accidents.
In addition, children of bereaved activists’ families are also being admitted to residential schools run by the NTR Trust at Charlapalli in Telangana and in Krishna district, providing them free education, Lokesh said.
Minister Lokesh revealed these details through social media platform X, bringing cheers to the party activists.
It is not just the TDP, any political outfit can function effectively and reach out to the public with the welfare activities only through dedicated and service-oriented activists.
TDP activists have won respect for their timely help and aid during disasters like cyclones and floods.
