The Hydra drive in Telangana continues to gain momentum. After a brief lull, it has picked up pace once again. Hyderabad Commissioner Ranganath visited the Ayyappa Society in Madhapur on Saturday.
His attention was drawn to an illegal five-story building under construction there, following several complaints. However, due to the involvement of a key member from the Ayyappa Society, initial efforts to halt the construction had been inconclusive. Nevertheless, with mounting pressure, action was taken.
On Saturday, after inspecting the Ayyappa Society, Commissioner Ranganath immediately ordered the demolition of the illegal structure the very next day. As a result, bulldozers were deployed on Sunday morning to begin the demolition process. The five-story building, illegally constructed on a 100-foot road within the society, was being torn down.
Illegal constructions in Ayyappa Society are not a new issue. Even during the previous BRS government, there were a few demolitions. A few months ago, notices were issued regarding illegal buildings in the area, and numerous complaints were received. As part of the crackdown, Ranganath personally visited the site on Saturday and confirmed the illegal nature of the construction. Consequently, he ordered the demolition to take place on Sunday.
The demolition has become a major topic of discussion, particularly because the building was located close to a main road. Due to safety concerns, power supply in the vicinity was temporarily suspended during the demolition process.
