New Name Given To Jagananna Colonies!

Published by

The ruling coalition government in Andhra Pradesh has taken a significant decision. On Friday, a key decision was made to rename the ‘Jagananna Colonies’ that were established during the previous YCP government in nearly every village of the state. These colonies, which had gained significant popularity among the public under the name “Jagananna Colonies,” will now be known as “PMAWY NTR Nagar.”

The decision was officially announced through government orders on Friday.

After YS Jagan’s victory in the 2019 elections, he became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. During his tenure, Jagan introduced numerous welfare schemes and launched various new programs. At the same time, there were several key promises that he could not implement. One of the significant initiatives was the construction of houses for the poor, where the government provided land and built homes for those without a place to live.

As part of this scheme, the government acquired large amounts of private land and distributed it among the landless poor across villages in the state. However, there were allegations of corruption by YSRCP leaders in these land purchases.

While the Jagan government initiated basic infrastructure development for the allotted house sites, construction of homes had not begun in many areas. As part of the program, these lands were named “YSR Jagananna Colonies.”

Now, after the coalition government came to power following the recent elections, they have decided to rename these colonies as “NTR Nagar,” in honor of former CM NTR.
