#2YearsOfYuvagalam : Story Behind This Emotional Pic

Published by

Today marks the second anniversary of TDP General Secretary and IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s historic walkathon, popular as Yuvagalam Padayatra, which saw him travel the length and breadth of Andhra Pradesh covering 3000 kilometres to interact with the masses and understand their hardships. The marathon political yatra set the tone for TDP’s comeback in 2024 elections as it played an instrumental role in bringing the party back to power.

On this occasion, many memorable and emotional moments from the Yuvagalam Padayatra have been going viral on social media. One picture which has caught the attention of everyone is that of a teary-eyed woman named Muni Rajamma who was one of the victims of the local YCP leaders.

Here is the story behind this emotional picture.

During his padayatra in Chandragiri constituency of Chittor district in March 2023, Lokesh interacted with women and heard their grievances. These women narrated their hardships while carrying their works for a living. In this interaction, Muni Rajamma also put out her ordeal and how she was harassed by YSR Congress party leaders in her village in the name of SC/ST atrocity cases.

After her interaction with Lokesh went viral in the media, YSRCP cadre once again reportedly tortured her in all ways. They even destroyed her tiffin shop and also threatened to banish her from the village if she doesn’t tender a public apology to the local leaders in the party office. She also alleged that they tried to disrobe her in public if she fails to apologize. However, she refused to budge and stood firm against the warnings of YSRCP leaders.

Her painful story moved Lokesh very much and he promised to help her on behalf of TDP. Later, she was handed over 5 Lakhs financial assistance from the party. Even Chandrababu Naidu also hailed her guts after he came to know about her story and how she fought against YSRCP cadre. He posted a tweet on X and demanded stern action against YSRCP supporters as per law.

This is just one of the many stories which mirror how the cadre of TDP suffered in the last five years. Needless to say, Yuvagalam Padayatra instilled moral support in many such ardent supporters who faced harassment from their opponents. There are many similar cases in every village across the state.
