AP Airports Secure Impressive Ranks

With many people preferring air travel, airports in Andhra Pradesh have witnessed increasing traffic last year. Basing on the performance in passenger and cargo handling, airports in the state have been ranked and interestingly, almost all the airports in the state secured ranks below 55.

In Dec. 2024, the Vijayawada International airport emerged as the fastest growing airport handling over 1,40,625 passengers, up by 47% corresponding to the same month in 2023. The Vijayawada airport secured 35th rank, its best ever so far.

During April-December 2024, Vijayawada airport handled over 9,99,555 passengers, a rise by 23.9% compared to the same duration in 2023.

Other airports in the state which registered good performance include Vizag International Airport, handling 2,75,694 passengers, a rise of 25.7% YoY, and secured 26th rank.

The domestic airports in Tirupati and Rajahmundry witnessed a rise in traffic in December last year. Tirupati was busiest with 1,02,739 passengers, up by 44% from 2023, when compared to Rajahmundry which registered 51,332 passengers taking flight services in December, 2024. Tirupati secured 45th rank while Rajahmundry stood at the 53rd rank.

These figure instill hope that these airports could perform much better in the coming years, as more and more investors flock to the state ready to start their businesses and services.

The TDP coalition government is striving to attract and convince investors from across the nation and world to the state, projecting it as a safe bet for their expansion endeavors.
