Would You Believe? AP Got More Than Bihar In Budget 2025

The government of India had a big day today as the finance minister Nirmala Sita Raman announced the financial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. The significant announcement came in the form of “nil tax for under 12 lakh” slab.

More relevantly for Andhra Pradesh here is a look at what this finance budget holds for the state. By the looks of it, AP got a better allocation that Bihar in the allocation today, as opposed to the social media talk that Bihar is the most benefitted state from today’s budget announcement.

Nirmala Sitaraman announced an allocation of ₹5936 crores for the Polavaram project. This is progressive budget and will be allocated in portions. Another Rs 12,157 crore is granted as balance grants.

The Vizag steel plant was granted ₹3295 crores while the Vizag port is granted ₹730 crore.

₹162 crore is granted for enhancement of healthcare facilities while ₹186 crore is allocated for facilitation of zero budget farming operations.

There wasn’t much contribution for the R&B wing as just Rs 240 crore was allocated for roads and bridges construction. AP Livelihood Improvement project brought in another ₹242 crores.

The allocation made for Andhra Pradesh are largely standard and it could perhaps be argued that there is nothing immensely prospective about it. Comparatively, Bihar which is heading to polls this year is granted better allocations.

In total, AP had allocations and grants worth around Rs 23,000 crore which is bigger than that of the approximate Rs 17,000 crore that was granted for Bihar.

As hard as it may sound to believe, AP got the bigger price of the pie today. As it appears, the positive reinforcements sent by CM Chandrababu and his good ties with the NDA hierarchy is ultimately working for the state. Also, the prominence of TDP MPs in the parliament is a key aspect here. Notably, even Pawan Kalyan had been doing his best to be in the good books of central bosses.
