Controversial director Ram Gopal Varma appeared before the AP police for questioning on Friday. The investigation pertains to a case involving offensive posts and inappropriate comments on social media. Varma was summoned to the Ongole Rural Police Station, where he was questioned by Circle Inspector Srikant Babu.
The case revolves around posts made during the previous election campaign, where Varma, who had been supportive of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), created a film titled ‘Vyuham’. During the campaign, Varma posted manipulated images of then-opposition leader and current CM Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh, and Jana Sena Party President and current Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. The images were designed to demean their personalities.
The issue came to light when M. Ramalingam, the local TDP leader from Maddipadu, filed a complaint against Varma. In response, the police registered a case and issued notices to the director. The investigation is ongoing, with Varma being questioned about the posts he made and their potential impact on the political climate during the election.
Many YSRCP leaders like Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy accompanied RGV to Police Station.
